Placing your succulent

You couldn’t resist a cute looking succulent. You bought it home, so excited! But don’t know where to place it so it looks good as well as stays healthy? One of the main concerns we address from our customers is where to keep the succulents! Its pretty simple. Succulents love their sunlight, because they are dessert plants. So, give them sun, sun and more sun! Place them near a windowsill where they get lots of sunlight for majority of the day.

When to water

Next big question? When do I water? Succulents survive by storing water in their leaves and roots, which is why they can survive weeks, or even a month, without watering. However, when the soil is dry, it’s best to water the plant thoroughly to keep them alive. Simple and easiest way to check if your succulent needs water is using a finger or toothpick to check the soil moisture before watering. If it’s dry, give them babies a good watering. If it feels moist, wait for a day or two.

How to water

Please, just please don’t spray or mist your succulents! This is a common misconception. If you frequently let your succulents go multiple weeks without enough water, they might start to shrivel up and drop leaves. What is the best way to water you ask? Well we say go simple! Take your succulent pot/ planter and dip it inside a container filled with water and leave it for about 10-20 seconds and remove it from the container. Remember to keep it aside to let the excess water to drain off before you place it back to their spots!
